Dear Friends of Volunteerism,

For almost thirty years, the Nassau County Volunteer Center has channeled the desire of Nassau County residents to give back to the community, to share their time and talents with their neighbors as volunteers. Through good times and tougher economic times, through storms and fair weather, through times of great change, the Nassau County Volunteer Center has continued to fulfill its mission to mobilize people and resources, through volunteerism, to deliver creative solutions to community problems.

For instance, nearly 2000 residents of Nassau County combined forces under the auspices of the Center, to bring Thanksgiving and Christmas to those in need in Nassau County. A few weeks before this Holiday Program, members of the Volunteer Center's Corporate Volunteer Council raised over $10,000 in donations and school supplies in their Annual GOKIDS (Giving Our Kids Important Daily Supplies) campaign for Nassau County Public School children. <more on Volunteer Center activities...>

These programs and other illustrate that the spirit of volunteerism and the desire to help remain strong. They help ensure a better quality of life in our neighborhoods, because when we care for the people we call family and friends, we all benefit.
