The Volunteer School Nurse Program targets retired and non-working nurses, as well as, currently employed nurses who wish to volunteer. These nurses supplement and support the current school health program and increase student access to professional nursing services.

Volunteer nurses provide a variety of services; medication administration, helping with screenings, health education, health fairs, care to students in the health room and much more. Volunteer nurses receive state liability protection, worker's compensation, free access to mandatory CEU's and licensure fee and 25% CEU waiver to those who qualify. Training provided.

 
         
Volunteer Needs:      
  • 25 to 50 LPN, RN, AENP with active and clear Florida License and Retired Nurses may be eligible for a Retired Nurse Certificate.
 
         
Special Projects:      
  • Student health record reviews and STate Mandatory Health Screenings. Generally one-time events at beginning of school year.
 
         
       

Volunteers should be over 21 years of age.
