Take Stock in Children is a scholarship and mentoring program that gives promising students from low-income families the opportunity to earn a 4-year college tuition scholarship or two-year vocational scholarship. Each Take Stock student is matched with a volunteer mentor who meets with them an hour a week at school providing friendship, encouragement and support. Mentors are given training and tools to help them become effective mentors. Take Stock in Children in affiliated with Florida State College in Jacksonville and the FSCJ foundational.
- Caring adults who can commit to meeting with a student an hour each week for one school year
- Caring adults who would like to sponsor a child's scholarship
- Tutors of geometry, chemistry, reading and math on an as-needed basis
- Annual celebration for student/graduates and mentors
- Annual scholarship fund drive
- Student leadership retreat
