| Nassau Habitat's mission is to eliminate substandard housing in Nassau County--one home at a time. We offer a handup, not a hand out. We build and sell basic affordable housing to eligible families, financing the homes with a zero interest mortgage. Prospective owners recruit family and friends to work at least 300 hours of "Sweat Equity" to acquire a Habitat Home. Nassau Habitat for Humanity is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a Christian ecumenical ministry dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing. Habitat families are selected without regard to religion, race, ethnic background, family status, or disability. |
