Our mission is to help children reach their potential trhough professionally supported one-to-one relationships with measurable impact. We recruit adult volunteers who want to make a difference in a child's life and match them with children who want and need a caring "Big" in their life. We professionally support and nurture these special relationships. In turn, a child develops a greater sense of confidence and potential as the bond with their Big matures. This vital investment of time by our volunteers helps to stop the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and crime, one child at a time.

Volunteer Needs:
Community Program--This is what we are traditionally known for--two friends spending tme doing the things they both enjoy--like playing ball or going out for an ice cream--a minimum of two times a month for one year. Volunteers must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. All volunteers must pass a Level II background and reference check. A home visit and interview are also required. School-based Program--The children selected for this program have been identified by school officials as needing extra support for academic, social and behavioral reasons. Volunteers must be 16 years of age and pass a background and reference check. Bigs meet with their Littles at their school for one hour, once a week, throughout the school year. The weekly visits are scheduled at a convenient time for the volunteer, during regular hours or in an after school program.
