ARC/NASSAU provides a myriad of training opportunities through Adult Day Training (ADT).  Transporation to and from ARC, Offsite Adult Training and Onsite Job Skills Training for employment, Supported Living, Respite Care, Personal Care, Companion Services, volunteer opportunities and community

involvement for developmentally disabled adults.

Volunteer Needs:
  • Someone to answer telephones a few days per week from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Yard work--mow lawn, weeding, etc.
  • Someone to play pool, basketball, or board games with ARC individuals during their daily free time.

Special Projects
  • We have a Teacher Resource Store for Nassau County teachers so that they may choose items to use in their classroom instead of purchasing supplies themselves.  We have a "teacher giveaway" at least six times a year.

At Christmas, our clients and staff go carolling to senior retirement communities and collect new toys for Toys for Tots.

We are a partnership with the Nassau County Sheriff for the "Take Me Home" Project for individuals with special needs to register

personal information and pictures for instant identification if the individual is found alone.  The Sheriff's Office can use this information to get them home safely.
